Google Guaranteed: What is it and How Does it Work?

October 26, 2020
Google Guaranteed, google blog

There are lots of ways to advertise using Google: search ads, display ads, video ads, and email ads. All of these require the advertiser to pay Google for posting these individual ads and to pay for each click that the ad generates. This model has been extraordinarily successful for Google, being the main driver behind its enormous revenue stream from its founding to today.

Now, however, Google is trying something different. In September 2020 Google released a new program called Google Guaranteed. The Guaranteed program is a new frontier for the tech giant since unlike it’s other ad sources the Guaranteed program is a subscription model. Another thing that makes Google Guaranteed different is that it is designed to drive organic traffic rather than paid. When accepted into the program a guaranteed business will appear at the very top of search listings and will hold a prominent place on a search page. This will organically drive up engagement for the business, rather than paying for an ad to appear at the top of results. This, as every business owner knows, is invaluable in getting people interested in a business and turning leads into sales. This differs from LSA (Local Services Ads) in that since it is a flat fee, a business is insulated from a spike in interest. An LSA can all of a sudden be very expensive if a business receives 1000 calls in a day for whatever reason.

So what do customers get out of this? The main benefit of Google Guaranteed for a customer is that it whittles down the competition and shows the businesses that are, to Google at least, the most trustworthy in the area. This means that when a customer goes through a business that is Google Guaranteed they know they will get quality service. If a certified business does an unsatisfactory job then the customer can appeal to Google and Google will repay the invoice up to $2000. This gives a big incentive for the business to do a good job, as doing a poor job will most likely get the business removed from the program.

The Google Guaranteed plan offers benefits for both customers and businesses, as it allows customers to be more mindful about their choices and allows businesses to really stand out from the crowd and build trust with their customer base. While there is no certainty from Google that being Google Guaranteed will drive results, the prominent listing on search pages and the money back guarantee all give businesses who are certified an edge in gaining customers. This, combined with a solid marketing strategy and paid Google ads, means that small businesses can more effectively show themselves to customers and drive results.
